Posted elsewhere, here's the songlist for the tour:
At The Ceili Carolina Rua Danny Boy Dulaman Fields of Gold Goodnight My Angel Granuaile's Dance Have I Told You Lately Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears Last Rose Fantasia Last Rose of Summer Mo Ghile Mear Nella Fantasia Oh, America Orinoco Flow Sing Out! Spanish Lady The Blessing The Call The Coast of Galicia The Sky And The Dawn And The Sun The Voice True Colours When You Believe You Raise Me Up You'll Be In My Heart
It's disappointing, IMO. All of the classsical content is gone, replaced by modern songs. The don't even have the new Pie Jesu.
Ave Maria, Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring, Panis Angelicus -- all of this is gone. I'd wished that new classical material would enter the group's repertoire, or at least other Irish songs.
I admire Chloe so much, and of course I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing her live in concert again, but I wish she would sing more of the great classical songs and arias. Those are the richest expressions of a voice.

Celeste, I know we haven't agreed about this in the past, but now I am with you on this. I wish they hadn't removed the classical content from the tour. I noticed it immediately once I saw the new playlist. Although I do like some of the modern songs they have, I wish they had more of the classical songs, particularly for Chloe.

It seems we're not the only ones who feel this way. I found one blog post which says the following: http://thoughtsrandomly.blogspot.com/20 ... ponse.htmlQuote: Sunday was the Celtic Woman concert and dinner with my parents. I don't mean to be so negative about what I am going to say, but it is how I feel...The show was a bit disappointing. There was quite a bit less Celtic music with their new CD. Another here: http://www.wosu.org/blogs/tomrieland/?p=183Quote: My only criticism is their selection of some knockoffs from Enya and Elton John, which seem dated. "Orinoco Flow" is a great crowd-pleaser, but I agree that the diminished Celtic & classical content is a pity. Don't get me wrong, I still think it's their best show. The gowns are more attractive, the set is better, the lighting is better, and Chloe's on stage for more of the time. Like the second blogger above said, I only have one regret, and that's the slide toward pop. Chloe and CW are always worth seeing, but a slightly different song list would have made the tour even more enjoyable.

Here's what Chloe sings on the current tour. Solo: -When You Believe -Nella Fantasia As a duet: -The Last Rose of Summer And together with other Celtic Woman girls: -The Sky And The Dawn And The Sun -Orinoco Flow -Isle of Hope, Isle of Tears -Goodnight My Angel -Danny Boy -Mo Ghile Mear -The Call -Have I Told You Lately? -Sing Out! -Oh, America -You Raise Me Up -Spanish Lady She also provides narration at several moments during the show. Hope that helps.

I'll be in a position to tell you if Celeste did miss any Chloe songs on that list after Saturday night... that's my first show of this tour, I am very excited! I have been a year away from the shows and that is FAR too long....

Returning to the original point of this thread, the following review from the Orlando Sentinel echoes the point: http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/entert ... arena.htmlQuote: In reality, the traditional songs were quite beautiful. The a cappella "Danny Boy" was enough to elicit tears, while Nesbitt’s instrumental on "Shenandoah" was grand and gorgeous.
Less inspiring were covers such as "True Colors," "Fields of Gold" and Billy Joel’s "Lullabye (Goodnight my Angel)," mellow pop songs lacquered with more mannered sweetness. The traditional numbers win over even the skeptics. The pop songs, not so much.

I think it depends on the song. I think there is only ONE song on this tour that should be canned (and it will remain nameless so as to not offend anyone; and no, it is NOT a Chloe song!). All in all though, I think the current tour is excellent as it stands now.
However, I do agree that it would be even better with a couple classical and traditional songs replacing a certain couple of songs. Luckily, part of the genius of David Downes is making the contemporary sound traditional, even if it really isn't.
