This one was a lot of fun! I hope you enjoy it :)

I revised this banner, I made some minor adjustments and I reduced the size to 500 pixels wide.

Oh, my goodness, Brian, that's beautiful! I especially like the fact that you chose an evening sky theme as opposed to the daytime sky theme that's invoked in Chloe's "Walking in the Air" video. I think the night sky, with that lovely full moon, captures the spirit of the song even better.

And I particularly adore the screen cap that you used for the left-side image of Chloe. That's such a lovely expression on her face, with her heavily-lidded eyes. Gorgeous.

Ashely recently introduced us to your work. I must say, I like your Chloe banners best of all. :)

Oh, and by the way, I really like your avatar. Did you create that yourself, or was it an option on this forum when you registered?

Very, very pretty.

Brian, those came out good. I had already seen your Let It Snow one on the CWF already. I like the Walking In the Air one... the screencap that you used on the right side of the banner is one of my absolute favorite images of Chloe... my very first banner used that same cap. :)

I really should make the time to do some new graphics myself. It's been soooo long now....

Celeste and Scott thank you very much!! I originally intended for the background to be a nice bright and sunny day so that's how I began it. However, while perusing the lyrics "floating in the moonlit sky" I knew I had a slight problem. :) So I darkened the sky and the clouds and I added the moon and the stars, Presto! "riding in the midnight blue!" I love all three of those pictures, especially the one on the right. Chloë is so photogenic! But the picture on the right I really enjoy, she kind of looks like she's daydreaming, or perhaps just enjoying the "mighty monster" swooping down from the clouds!
Yes I created the avatar. I was creating a bunch of screen caps a while back and out of good fortune I captured that little gem :) Here is a larger shot. Again so photogenic, the shot is pretty darn near perfect in my opinion :)
Scott, get moving on making some new graphics I love seeing people's creations!! When you have the time that is :)

Brian, here is the link to my Photobuckets. I have done well over 100 CW banners and wallpapers over the past 2 years, though I haven't done as many recently because of a lack of time. I am starting to form some ideas for some new ones, though.

Scott, do you mind if I use this banner for a while as my sig? This is great, very creative!

Very commendable idea, Brian -- to go back to the lyrics of the song and use them to guide your banner creation. It's going that extra mile that distinguishes the best work.

Incidentally, I noticed the "monster" in the banner at first and wondered what its significance was. I forgot all about the "mighty monster" in the song's lyrics. Well done!

Any chance you could post the screencap that you used for the left-side image of Chloe, the one in which her eyes are heavily-lidded? That's a beautiful shot, but I don't think I've seen that one separate before.

Oh, and the photo that you used for your avatar is indeed pretty. Very princess-like!

Thank you again Celeste! I try to keep the lyrics in mind when I do one of these things, they're a great source for ideas :) Lol the monster, you'll notice that he has my watermark "BrianH" in his clutches, I couldn't resist putting him in there! I love touches of whimsy :) If you have any ideas for a Chloë banner(s) i'd love to hear em :)

Here's the picture

Brian, you may use any of those banners... including the Mairead vs. Vader one. Don't ask me how I come up with some of those graphics! :D :D :D :D

LOL before I read that I was just sitting here eating my T.G.I Fridays chicken fajitas, whatever its called, thinking where did he come up with that idea? Mairead vs Vader!?! :) I would have never thought of that. I love the fact she can take Vader on one handed and still hold on to her baby :) The dark side is NO match for Miss Nesbitt!

As it says in the full-wallpaper version of that banner: "Dark Lords Don't Stand A Chance!" :D :D :D :D :D

Thank you for posting that screencap, Brian.

If you want a challenge, then I must say, I don't think that anyone has ever created the definitive "Last Rose of Summer" banner.

While various CW duos have performed this number, for me it is the quintessential solo song (owing to its content), and Chloe's version (from her first solo CD) is the one that I love best.

I once wrote a long, dull essay about the song's rather complex lyrics. I mention this because you used the "Walking in the Air" lyrics so effectively in your banner for that song.

the-last-rose-of-summer-and-romantic-suicide-t319.html

The trick, I've always thought, would be to capture the melancholy of the song, somehow. I'm thinking that it would have to be a dark banner (black or near-black background, for example; although perhaps instead of merely a flat black, it could be dark Gothic stonework, or something like that), to evoke a sense of mourning.

The red of rose petals, and the green of the leaves and/or stems, would stand out vividly against that dark background.

And somehow, an appropriately solemn Chloe image would be worked into it (something like the screen caps from "That Night in Bethlehem," from the Christmas celebration, in which Chloe exhibits a singularly solemn demeanour).

Did you happen to notice Scott's incredible "candlelight" image of Chloe?

http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k100/ ... ght-01.jpg

That captures the melancholy spirit very well, but of course a "Last Rose" graphic would incorporate the red petals/green stem (and perhaps more greenery) theme of the song, instead of a candle.

Whew. Well, it's just a thought. Oh, and this wouldn't be for me, necessarily. I would just want it to exist, for all the world to admire. :)

Thank you for that vivid description Celeste! I'm going to do this banner, I can see it clearly in my minds eye. I love the Gothic stone motif so that is a must. It will definitely be a dark graphic both in color and mood perhaps a tad disturbing. I'm thinking a high contrast black and white background with a foreboding sky, and the red of the soon to be murdered rose would be very striking! I'll start gathering reference material posthaste :) I'll try to incorporate Scott's wonderful candlelight picture of Chloë somehow. This one is gonna be cool I just know it ;)
